Meeting the Needs of Gifted and High-Ability Children

Join us for a presentation by John Pellino and Monita Leavitt, Board Members of the Connecticut Association for Gifted Children, for a “CAG in Your Community” Presentation hosted by Beacon, a Greenwich Education Group School.   • OUR PRESENTERS:

    Dr. Monita Leavitt is an international consultant and teacher trainer in gifted education who has taught gifted children for over 25 years. Dr. Leavitt is the author of Building a Gifted Program: Identifying and Educating Students in Your School (2007) and a contributing author for the second edition of Exceptional Needs Standards NBPTS National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (2010). Dr. Leavitt is a Board Member for IGET Network (S. Africa), the Bavarian Gifted and Talented Children Center, and CAG (CT Association for the Gifted) and served as Academic Dean at Yale University for SIG (Summer Institute for the Gifted) in 2011.

    John Pellino is Associate Director at Talcott Mountain Science Center in Avon CT, and Vice President at Connecticut Association for the Gifted. His training is in biology, educational psychology, and educational technology. His experience includes 30+ years of teaching in mainstream and G/T classrooms, mentorship, distance learning, school project management and research, as well as development of curriculum, instruction and evaluation in science, educational technology and G/T.
