Eco-Tots Winter at the Beach with Mommy & Me

Children Ages 2 - 4

$45 for four 1-hour weekly programs from 10 am - 11 am on March 7, 14, March 21.

Join your child and discover the beauty of nature with SoundWaters educators at the Floren Family Environmental Center at Innis Arden Cottage at . Share in the experience of learning and make memories with your child.

The hour-long weekly sessions combine live animals, story telling and a take-home craft project. This may be the first experience some SoundWaters Eco-tots have had with a live seastars or horseshoe crabs. Through holding and touching living sea stars, SoundWaters Eco-tots are able to feel the animal’s bumpy skin and to count their five arms.

"My daughter Anne loves the Eco-tot program," said Kristen Machi, whose child participated in the program last month. "Anne loves to hold real sea animals. She talked about holding a turtle all week! The art projects are also adorable. She proudly showed her father her sea star and told him about making it. The class is well-paced for small children and the instructors are good with the children."

These young scientists also learn, for example, how various Long Island Sound creatures protect themselves, and then they express their findings through art projects. During one such horseshoe crab project, the Eco-tots created their own paper “helmet head” for protection.

"The Eco-tots program is by far the best class in town I have found for my 3-year-old son. The class size is small which allows for each child to hold/touch the animals, ask questions and get one-on-one attention from the knowledgeable instructors" said Katherine McDonald. "The program has a great curriculum that is perfect for the age range.  I am looking forward to re-enrolling my son, he loves the class and I love being able to support SoundWaters."

The programs take place on three consecutive Wednesdays:  March 7, 14 and 21.

“Eco-Tots is exactly the type of program we want at the Environment Center,” said Denise Savageau, Conservation Director for the . “The idea of the environmental center is to offer outdoor programs combined with indoor space, which is perfect for the winter. I’m looking forward to having SoundWaters, as one of our partners utilizing the Center, doing more programs for us there.”

Seems to me you are missing the most obvious which is shown in the photo used at the top ofRead More Greenwich Patch pages - Grass Island Marina/Park is directly across the waterway. You won't be able to see much of the stage front but you can certainly enjoy the tunes.
