Tony Campolo, Champion of Children's Causes & Social Justice, To Speak in Greenwich as Part of the Conversations on Courage and Faith at Christ Church Greenwich

Well known speaker, author, sociologist, pastor and social activist Dr. Tony Campolo will be visiting Greenwich, Conn., on Sunday, January 9, 2011, as a speaker in the Conversations on Courage and Faith series, held at Christ Church Greenwich.  Dr. Campolo is best known for championing causes for at-risk children around the world and on speaking on the subject of social justice.  Dr. Campolo will be a guest speaker at the Conversations on Courage and Faith event at the 9:30 a.m. Christ Church Greenwich worship service, and then will be giving an additional talk and participating in a book signing at 10:30 a.m.  Both events are free and open to the public.  Christ Church Greenwich is located at 254 E. Dr. Campolo is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Eastern University in St. Davids, Penn. He previously served for ten years on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Eastern College and earned a Ph.D. from Temple University. Founder and President of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education (EAPE), Dr. Campolo has worked to create, nurture and support programs for "at-risk" children in cities across North America, and has helped establish schools and universities in several developing countries.

Dr. Campolo is also a media commentator on religious, social and political matters, having appeared on numerous television programs like The Colbert Report, Nightline, Crossfire, Politically Incorrect, The Charlie Rose Show, Larry King Live, CNN Dayside, CNN News and MSNBC News. He co-hosted his own television series, Hashing It Out, on the Odyssey Network, and presently hosts Across The Pond, a weekly program on the Premier Christian Radio Network in England. He is also a highly respected and sought after guest on radio stations across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

Dr. Campolo speaks about 350 different times each year around the world for a wide variety of groups including churches, colleges, youth groups and the business community.  He a prolific author and has written 38 books, his latest entitled Stories That Feed Your Soul: Inspiring Lessons from Unexpected Places and Unlikely People (Regal, Sept 2010, $19.99), Connecting Like Jesus (Jossey-Bass, May 2010), co-authored with Mary Albert Darling, and Choose Love Not Power (Regal, Feb 2010).  Some of his other recent titles are:  Red Letter Christians: A Citizen's Guide to Faith and Politics, Speaking My Mind, Let Me Tell You A Story: Life Lessons from Unexpected Places and Unlikely People, Adventures in Missing the Point, Revolution and Renewal, and Everybody Wants to Change the World: Practical Ideas for Social Justice, just to name a few.

Conversations on Courage & Faith is a series of lectures, artistic performances and spiritual experiences that inspire and equip people to live Christianly in a postmodern world.  Conversations on Courage and Faith is a Christian formation program of Christ Church Greenwich.
