Greenwich Point Becomes An Outdoor Classroom

What a day to spend your class outdoors.

Nearly 200 marine biology students from Greenwich High School spent a few hours at Greenwich Point Friday getting hands-on experience for all of the lessons they've had this year from teachers Jenna Carlson and Paul Ludwig.

Under the guidance of the SoundWaters education staff, the students learned how to collect water samples and plankton and how to use seine nets to capture various marine life . Aside from the requisite seaweed, students collected lion's mane jellyfish, hermit, horseshoe and black-fingered mud crabs, killi fish and silversides.

"It's fun because you get to come to the beach for class " said junior Patrick Santini. "It's cool to see first-hand what we learned in class."
