The Greenwich Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee announced the six winners of the annual awards at the Greenwich Board of Education meeting Thursday night.
The recipients of the 2013 Distinguished Teachers Awards are:
- Cecilia Aita, Central Middle School, Special Education
- Jennifer Benoit, Greenwich High School, Special Education
- Melissa Macchio Brown, Greenwich High School, English/AVID
- Stephen Kinner, Eastern Middle School, Technology Education
- Esra Murray, International School at Dundee, Grade 5
- Marybeth Smith, Greenwich High School, English
The committee selected the Distinguished Teachers from nominations made by colleagues, parents, students, administrators and community members based on criteria outlined in the nomination packet.
The recipients were recognized at the April 25 Board of Education meeting at Riverside School. The Distinguished Teachers Awards ceremony will be held at at 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, at Western Middle School.
