ISD Fourth Graders Visit Italian Futurists Exhibit at Guggenheim Museum

The fourth grade class from the International School at Dundee (ISD) made its 10th annual visit to the Guggenheim Museum in New York City as part of ISD’s International Baccalaureate unit: “How we Express Ourselves,” exploring how art reflects culture. 

In preparation for the visit, fourth grade students researched different aspects of painting, sculpture, architecture and writing, connected with the Italian Futurists movement and its rejection of classical forms.  

As part of the six-week interdisciplinary unit of art and classroom studies, students worked with various media on four different art projects, and created their own written manifesto with regard to a personal belief. The unit culminated with a visit to the Guggenheim Museum in April, and The Italian Futurist Fourth Grade art show, featuring some 300 student works, which will take place on Thursday, May 22, at ISD.
