Schools Math Coordinator Named

Veteran Greenwich Public Schools math teacher Brenda Brush tapped for district post.

Brenda Brush, an elemenary school math coach, has been named the Greenwich Public Schools District Elementary Math Coach by interim Superintendent Roger Lulow.

Brush, who has been teaching for 15 years, assumes the post July 1.

In a prepared statement Lulow said, “Brenda is an experienced and skilled educator, adept at providing professional development for her colleagues, and knowledgeable about the content area, the use of technology in instruction, and data-driven decision making. She will continue to be a valuable resource for administrators and teachers in her new position.”

Brush began her career in 1997 as a teacher on Long Island. She also taught at Weston Middle School in Weston for four years before coming to the Greenwich Public Schools as a fifth-grade teacher at North Street School in 2003. In 2009, she was promoted to elementary math coach for the district. In her role as math coach, Brush has worked closely with the current Math Program Coordinator and with other curriculum area coordinators on refining the role of instructional coaches, the development of the standards based report card, and planning for Response to Intervention (RtI).

She is a member of the Greenwich District Data Team and works with teachers in Instructional Data Teams throughout the District in analyzing data and identifying instructional strategies for improving student performance.

Brush received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Spanish and a Masters of Arts in Elementary Education with a specialization in Math, Science and Technology, and is attending Sacred Heart University’s Educational Leadership Program.
