Google and Grow Your Small Business

CT small businesses are invited to attend a free workshop to help create their own website, receive training and resources.

More than half of Connecticut's small businesses don't have an online presence.

And to help those businesses grow their Internet presence, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4) have announced that Google is bringing its Connecticut Get Your Business Online program to Norwalk on Tuesday, May 27.

At the Connecticut Get Your Business Online event, Google experts will help small business owners create their own websites. Businesses also receive a customized domain name, free web hosting for one year, a local business listing on Google Maps, free tools, training and resources. Google experts are on hand to train the business owners on how to reach more customers online.

The program will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Dolce Norwalk, located at 32 Weed Ave., Norwalk.

Connecticut Get Your Business Online is an easy and fast way for local businesses to get a website and become more visible online, where the majority of people are going to find goods and services. While 97% of Internet users look online for local products and services, 53% of Connecticut small businesses do not have a website or online presence.

“The perception that getting online is complex, costly and time-consuming has prevented too many Connecticut small businesses from taking the first step,” said Soo Young Kim, director of Google's America Get Your Business Online program. “This program makes it fast, easy and free for businesses to get online."

Businesses unable to attend the event can still get a free website and resources by going to www.ConnecticutGetOnline.com. More information about the program and the Norwalk event is also available on the website.
