Come Out and Support Connecticut Special Olympics

Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.

That's the credo of hundreds of Special Olympians who will begin their quest for athletic achievement this weekend when the Connecticut Special Olympics opens. Leading up to the opening ceremonies in New Haven, is the three-day Olympic Torch Run — athletes accompanied by members of most law enforcement agencies in the state.

The run kicked off on Wednesday and continues Thursday and Friday. The Torch Run will cover more than 530 miles and run through more than 100 cities and towns. More than 1,500 Law Enforcement officers and Special Olympics Athletes will participate in this year's Torch Run, according to Special Olympics.

The opening ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, June 6 at 7:15 p.m. at Jess Dow Field at Southern Connecticut State University, 501 Crescent St., New Haven.

The athletes and their law enforcement buddies, who are donating their time to accompany them along the route, sure could use some Olympic support.

Here's the scheduled run routes — it takes just a few moments of time to stand by the roadside to cheer these fearless athletes along their routes or honk your car horns.
