Greenwich B'ball Notches Another Win

Chalk up another victory for the boys basketball team.
Greg Donlic scored 17 points and Alejandro Rodriguez added 13 as the Cardinals defeated Wilton 49-41 on Thursday to improve to 6-1.

Greenwich, which won only four games all of last season, now has reeled off four straight victories since its only loss came to Ridgefield on Dec. 20. Thursday's win came two days after the Cardinals shocked seventh-ranked Trinity Catholic 43-41 on a shot at the buzzer.
The Cardinals have had a bit of a hangover affect from the thrilling win over the Crusaders as they fell behind the Warriors 6-0 in the first quarter. They regrouped, however, to take a 29-26 halftime lead.

Wilton outscored Greenwich 7-4 in a defensive-minded third quarter, but the Cardinals put away the game with a 16-8 spurt in the fourrth period.
Alex McMurray, who hit the game-winning shot against Trinity Catholic, added eight points for the Cardinals.
Chris Nugent scored 13 points and Sean Carroll added 10 for Wilton, which dropped to 2-4.

Freshman Cori Cannavino led three players in double figures with 12 points as the Wilton girls basketball team rolled to a 63-22 victory over Greenwich at the Zeoli Field House.
Casey Pearsall scored all 11 of her points in the first half, when the Warriors(5-2) built a 34-14 head, and Kelly Brosko added 10.
Greenwich, which managed just eight points in the second half, suffered its eighth straight loss and dropped to 1-8.
Caroline Barrett scored seven points to lead the Cardinals.
