Greenwich LAX Players Bring it Home in NCAA Tourneys

The former Greenwich High School standouts help teams advance in NCAA tournaments.

Two Greenwich High School lacrosse alums had what was needed to help their collegiate teams win their respective NCAA tournament games this weekend.

Colin Dunster, a senior at Bryant University, scored two goals to help the No. 19 Bryant University men's lacrosse team top the fourth-ranked Syracuse University Orange, 10-9, inside the Carrier Dome Sunday night in the NCAA First Round. Bryant never trailed against second-seeded Syracuse.

Dunster, a midfielder from Cos Cob, scored Bryant's first goal and went on to score a second goal later in the match. With the victory, the Bulldogs (16-4) advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in program history and will take on seventh-seeded Maryland Saturday, May 17 at 12 p.m. (ESPN2).

During their match on Saturday in Schenectady, NY, Union College junior Adam Sands of Greenwich had a goal and an assist, when the ninth-ranked Union played to a 17-11 win over 12th-ranked Amherst in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

The Dutchmen (15-3) will face top-ranked RIT (19-0) in the NCAA Quarterfinals Wednesday, May 14 in Rochester.
