Greenwich Winning Streak Snapped by Norwalk

Norwalk cooled off the basketball team by defeating the Cardinals 45-36 Tuesday night in Norwalk.
Roy Kane Jr. scored 13 points and Rasheen Thompson added 12 for the Bears, who improved to 7-3.

The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Cardinals, who reached the midpoint of the season at 8-2.
Norwalk managed a 19-15 halftime lead in the low-scoring contest. The 36 points is the fewest the Bears have allowed in a game this season.

Alejandro Rodriguez and forward Sem Kroon each scored 10 points for Greenwich.
Alex McMurray provided a spark for Greenwich in the second half, scoring nine straight points for the Cardinals during one stretch that allowed them to take a 30-29 early in the fourth quarter.
But Norwalk finished the game with a 16-6 spurt.
One difference in the game was the foul shooting. The Bears got to the line 18 times, making 11, while Greenwich was just 3-of-4.

The Norwalk girls basketball team rolled to its eighth consecutive victory with a 53-30 rout of Greenwich on Tuesday.
Emma Oyomba scored 13 points for the Bears, who improved to 8-3 and haven't lost since starting the season 0-3.
Brianna Ruffin added 12 points and Katie Schmidt chipped in with 11 for Norwalk, which pulled away after a close first quarter.
Greenwich suffered its 11th consecutive loss and dropped to 1-11. The Cardinals played without Caroline Barrett, who missed the game due to a concussion.
After taking a 10-6 lead after the first quarter, Norwalk extended its lead to 23-16 at the half, then outscored Greenwich 30-14 in the second half.
Erica Ambrogio scored 10 points to lead Greenwich.
