The Greenwich girls swimming team romped to victory Thursday in the Class LL championships at Southern Connecticut State University.
The Cardinals, who won their fifth title in six years, virually lapped the field, as their winning point total of 877 team points far outdistanced runner-up (606). Trumbull (513) was third.

The Cardinals set a state mark of 1:44.87 in the 200 medey relay, breaking the previous record of 1:47.11. Greenwich broke another state mark in the 400 freestyle relay as its winning time of 3:30.17 bettered the previous standard of 3:31.93.
Overall, the Cardinals had five first-place finishes, including three relay races and two individual events.

Lauren Church, Katie Evans, Morgan Karetnick and Madeline Dunn comprised the 200-yard medley relay team.
Kim Hill finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.13). In the 200-yard IM, Morgan Karetnick was second (2:04.82) and Katie Evans fourth (2:05.89).
In the 50-yard freestyle, Greenwich's Madeline Dunn placed second (24.39) while Karetnick finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (55.53).
In the 100-yard freestyle, Greenwich took the first two spots as Church was first (51.55) and Kim Hill second (53.21).
Sarah Lauridsen came in fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.83) while Dunn, Sam Hill, Porter Carlson and Kim Hil swam on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Church gave Greenwich another first in the 100-yard backstroke (55.50) with Evans (1:05.77) and Dunn (1:08.37) finishing second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Finally, Greenwich also came in first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:30.17 (Karetnick, Sam Hill, Kim Hill and Church).
