Prior to his collegiate career, he tallied 69-81-150 and 38 penalty minutes in 80 games for Avon Old Farms (Conn.) High School, helping the school win the New England Ice Hockey Championship in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

Burning Tree's Danny Balin is tied for fifth with eight points after the second round of the 54-hole Met PGA Treiber Memorial Tournament of Champions at Wheatley Hills Golf Club. Eight players in the Regular Division advanced to Friday's final round.

The championship is being conducted under the modified stableford scoring format as follows: 8 points for double eagle, 5 points for eagle, 2 points for birdie, 0 points for par, -1 point for bogey, -3 points for double bogey.

Balin, who recorded four points in each of the first two rounds, is five points behind leader Chris Case of Sunningdale Country Club

The Greenwich football team was healthy for the first time all season last week and it showed as the Cardinals rolled to a 36-12 road victory at Trumbull.

Greenwich, which rebounded from a 51-33 loss to New London the week before, looks to keep things rolling on Friday when it hosts winless Fairfield Ludlowe (0-4) at Cardinal Stadium.

The Falcons have had a rough go of it and were blanked by lowly Harding 6-0 last week. In its four games, Ludlowe has been outscored 121-20.

Greenwich starting Liam O'Neill returned last week after missing the first games with a concussion suffered in a preseason scrimmage against Masuk and passed for 130 yards.

Senior running back Shane Nastahowski rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries as the Cardinals improved to 3-1.

Trumbull was limited to 33 yards of total offense in the second half. Don Cherry rushed for 117 yards for the Eagles, but he was held to just seven yards in the second half.

Greenwich's defense figures to have more success against a Fairfield Ludlowe team that has had trouble generated offense all season. Greenwich has climbed to eighth in the CIAC Class LL state rankings.
