Greenwich Scores and Standings: Oct 26

The Greenwich department of parks and recreation announces that it will be starting indoor field hockey clinics on Sunday, Nov. 27. The clinic will run for four weeks until Dec. 18.

In-person registration begin on Monday at the Bendheim Western Civic Center, 449 Pemberwick Road.

The classes will meet on Sundays. Session 1 will meet from 3:30 to 4:30 pm for children 8 and 9 years old.  Session 2 will be from 4:30 to 5:30 pm for children 10-12 years old.

The program will help children develop skills in stick work, passing, receiving, shooting, basic offensive and defensive skills and small sided games.

The rec department also announces that the registration/organizational meeting for the men’s basketball leagues will be on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center.

Anyone wishing to enter a team, or individuals who want to get on a team must, register at this meeting.  We accept resident teams along with teams from Greenwich businesses and corporations. 

Games are played Monday thru Thursday evenings at various gym locations around town.  The league is set to begin Jan. 2, 2012.

Field hockey

Darien 5, Greenwich 0 -- The Cardinals, who are trying to secure a berth in the FCIAC playoffs, dropped to 4-5-3-2 and remained in the No. 8 spot. They host Cheshire in their regular-season finale on Thursday before possibly facing Darien again in the quarterfinals of the FCIAC playoffs on Saturday.
