Despite faltering down the stretch, the Greenwich High School boys basketball team enters the final day of the regular season still with a chance to make the FCIAC playoffs.
But the Cardinals (11-8, 9-8) are going to have to rediscover their offense in a hurry and win in a hostile gym at Danbury.
Greenwich managed just seven first-half points in Monday's 52-41 defeat at Fairfield Warde, its sixth loss in the last eight games. The Cardinals have been stuck on 41, scoring that exact total in each of their last three contests.

Heading into what figures to be a wild final day of the season, a remarkable eight teams are still in contention for the final three spots, although Fairfield Ludlowe (8-9) and Staples (8-9) are alive only mathematically and may need a miracle to get in.
Stamford (10-7) posted a huge 77-72 win at Bassick on Monday and is alone in sixth place. Greenwich is among a logjam of five teams tied for seventh at 9-8, a group that also includes Bridgeport Central, Danbury, Fairfield Warde and Trumbull.

The Greenwich at Danbury contest essentially is a play-in game as the winner would get to the coveted 10-win plateau. Barring a major upset, Central also will get to double figures as the Hilltoppers close against a four-win McMahonteam.
Warde and Trumbull also have a chance to reach 10 wins, but they each have tough games. The Mustangs host undefeated St. Joseph and Trumbull entertains playoff bound Trinity Catholic.
So, if form holds, the final three playoff spots will go to Stamford, Bridgeport Central and the Greenwich-Danbury winner.
The bottom line for the Cardinals is that they will be eliminated with a loss to Danbury as they would lose tiebreakers with Bridgeport Central, the Hatters, Warde and Trumbull.
Even with a win, Greenwich could be out if Warde and/or Trumbull pulled off an upset.
