Greenwich YW Swimmer Meghan Lynch Notches Another First

Ten-year-old Meghan Lynch, the gold medal-winning standout on the Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team, earned another first for the team.

On the heels of setting a new national record for the 100-yard breast stroke in the 10 and under age group a couple weeks ago, the Parkway School student is featured in the current Sports Illustrated magazine — a first for any YW Dolphin, according to Coach Nick Cavataro.

Meghan posted her first National Age Group Record of her young career, a 1:08.07 clocking in the 100-yard breast stroke in the 2014 United States Swimming Eastern Zone Short Course Swimming Championships held at Webster Aquatic Center in WebsterNY.

She shattered the former mark of 1:09.79 held by Annie Zhu, then of the LaGuardia Aquatic Club of New York, NY. Zhu, now a sophomore at the University of Georgia, where she is a four-time All American and recently helped the Lady Bulldogs to their sixth national championship title.

If Meghan keeps on this track, could we be seeing she in the Olympics in a few years? We hope so.
