Football legends Phil Simms and Amani Toomer served as judges in the first-ever high school quarterback competition that featured Greenwich High School standout Liam O'Neil.

There's going to be a strong Greenwich connection tonight when MSG Varsity, Cablevision’s 24/7 high school network premieres the first "Tri-State Quarterback Showdown."

The show can be seen at 7:30 p.m. on Optimum TV Channel 14.

The television special features the top 24 high school quarterbacks from the New York Metro area — including Liam O'Neil of the Greenwich high School Cardinals football team — competing for the “Showdown Champion” title through various challenges and obstacles testing their
speed, strength, accuracy. New York Giants veterans Phil Simms and Amani Toomer serve as judges provide commentary.

Other lower Fairfield County athletes invited to participate in the competition held last month at New Rochelle (NY) High School were Henry Baldwin of Darien High School and Jack Massie of Staples High School in Westport.

The show will be re-broadcast on Tuesday, July 17: 9:30pm, 11:30pm, 2am; Friday, July 20: 12:30pm; Saturday, July 21: 5pm, and Tuesday, Aug. 28: 7:30pm.

There aren't any meetings scheduled for today.
