Nastahowski Rushes For 4 TDs as Greenwich Pounds Bridgeport Central, 55-28

Cardinals win their third straight to improve to 5-1 and score exactly 55 points for the second straight week

The Greenwich football team enjoyed another laugher Friday night.

Shane Nastahowski rushed for 120 yards and four touchdowns as the Cardinals defeated Bridgeport Central 55-28 at Kennedy Stadium for their third straight win.

It was the second straight game that Greenwich (5-1) scored exactly 55 yards as it also reached that number in last week's 55-9 drubbing of Fairfield Ludlowe.

Mark Bernstein also surpassed the century mark rushing and added a pair of TDs for the Cardinals, who exploded for 28 points in the second period after the Hilltoppers (2-4) had taken an 8-6 lead after the first stanza.

After Bernstein's 39 run TD run put Greenwich ahead for good, Nastahowski adding scoring runs of 6 and 7 yards.

Fred Tucker then scored on a 1-yard TD plunge for the Hilltoppers, but Nastahowski's 55-yard kickoff return gave the Cardinals a 34-14 lead.

Central didn't go away, pulling with 34-20 at the half on Chad Lawrence's 39-yard TD reception from Deon Wiggins.

But Nastahowski tacked on TD runs of 6 and 4 yards, sandwiched around Lawrence's 4-yard TD scamper, in the third quarter to give the Cardinals a 48-20 lead. Nastahowski has rushed for more than 100 yards in five of Greenwich's six games this season.

Berstein capped then scoring with a 11-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals
