A Cool Break from Summer's Sweat-mageddon


Greenwich Patch couldn't help but try to provide a little relief from the latest heat wave that's embraced the region this week.

It was just four months ago that the state was digging out from what seemed like an epic snowfall with the blizzard that dumped close to three feet of snow.

So here's a photo gallery of what it was like back in March when we all were wishing for winter's end and warmer weather.

And if this isn't cool enough, then the Town of Greenwich is providing cooling centers at these locations:
  • The Greenwich Senior Center, 299 Greenwich Ave.; Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Greenwich Main Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave.: Monday through Thursday:  9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Perrot Memorial Library, 90 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich: Mon., Wed., Fri.:  9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Byram Shubert Library, 21 Mead Ave., Byram: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday: noon to 8 p.m.
  • Cos Cob Library, 5 Sinawoy Rd., Cos Cob: Monday: noon to 8 p.m.; Tuesday to Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Western Greenwich Civic Center, 449 Pemberwick Rd. [Check in at front desk upon arrival]: Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Greenwich Police Department lobby: 11 Bruce Pl.: Daily: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Greenwich Adult Day Care Center, 125 River Rd. Ext., Cos Cob (Behind Villarina’s Deli on the Post Road) Call ahead 203 622-0079. Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
