In Chess, Politics and Elections—We're Neighbors

I’ve been almost inconsolable since reading the town’s election results.

I’ve been almost inconsolable since reading the town’s election results - almost like how I felt when I learned that State Rep. Lile Gibbons would not be running for re-election – lost, sad and ultimately, in time, I’ll feel underrepresented in and out of Hartford.

The illustrious Representative Gibbons, a woman, is the reason NEIGHBORS got on public access against the wishes of some at the cable company. I applied for the public access class, got my paperwork in to them and they told me to come back in a year. I was dismissed. In Chess the Queen can make the most moves throughout the Chessboard, so I was glad that Rep. Gibbons was in office. She heard me out and in about two weeks we were signed up to begin our public access class. Our (Soon to be former) state representative thought the Chess Song was a great idea and could possibility help young people in town and state.

Chess pieces are colored either Black and White/Dark and Light. There’s, two Rooks (castles), two Knights, two Bishops, one QUEEN and the King – in front of them are six Pawns, it’s a balance representation of a civilized society. (I know some of y’all are thinking, what’s that economically challenged African American woman know about civilized society)  The black and white color Kings are on opposite sides of the board as are the Queens. Two Kings can’t be in control of one side it doesn’t work in Chess or life. Read the international section of the papers if you don’t believe me. King and Queen/female and male now there’s a working team. Each with their own purpose.

Thanks to modern technology we can 99.99% percent of the time tell if the fetus growing in a woman’s stomach will be male or female. The child’s race, now that’s another story. The doctors assumes that same race parents make same race baby (Momma’s baby, Daddy maybe), but whatever the baby’s race it’s a real good possibility that what enters this Earth from the womb will be either a female or male human being.

Much to my chagrin we have three Kings representing the town of Greenwich in Hartford. Three Kings to stop Governor Malloy (If not bring the governor down.) and the Democrats from raising taxes. I get that, but people of Greenwich how can this get done when we are unfairly represented. We haven’t a female to represent the women of Greenwich. Will these three Kings think on or fairly give forethought to women’s, children’s and single parent’s legislative issues and Obamacare? - not to mention race and poverty issues, I think that’d be asking too much.

NEIGHBORS third episode, “The Bishop” premieres this Wednesday at 6 pm on Ch. 88. In this episode Pastor Perling of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church lets the bullies and the children being bullied that the community churches are their extended families, in addition to teaching us a little of how the Bishop moves on the Chessboard. A must see episode, brilliant and captivating. Thanks so much Pastor Perling.

I’m told that women and girls don’t generally play Chess, let NEIGHBORS help. Also, the Greenwich and Byram Libraries have family Chess programs. If you need motivation tune into NEIGHBORS. Greenwich's Community Access channel 24 Verizon FiOS; Government Access Ch. 79 check GCTV website and Ch 88

Seems to me you are missing the most obvious which is shown in the photo used at the top ofRead More Greenwich Patch pages - Grass Island Marina/Park is directly across the waterway. You won't be able to see much of the stage front but you can certainly enjoy the tunes.
