Meet Greenwich High School's Danny Ross

Greenwich High School junior Danny Ross says that although it's a simple thing, the satisfaction he derives from putting a smile on others' faces as a Greenwich Library volunteer is hugely rewarding.

"Every week I go back and see all the familiar faces," Ross said at GHS Thursday morning, standing near Bella House Administrator Rich Alessi and VolunteerSquare Executive Director Rachel Reese.

Ross finished second out of more than 60 essayists who participated in the inaugural Community Service Essay Contest from VolunteerSquare (http://volunteersquare.com/) and Patch.com.

In his essay, Ross talks about volunteering in general and then discusses in more detail the fulfillment he gets out of the community service at Greenwich Library, from one patron in particular. The 16-year-old says he enjoys science and psychology and may pursue a course of study in neuropsychology.
