A Jam-Packed Week In Greenwich


Good morning Greenwich! 

It's going to be a pretty hectic week, starting with the Representative Town Meeting holding its October meeting at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 at Central Middle School. The Board of Estimate and Taxation meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29; and the Parks & Recreation Commission at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30. 
 

Voter Registration Sessions Set

The Registrars of Voters will hold two voter registration sessions in coming days.  The session will be held at their offices in Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Rd. On Tuesday, Oct. 29, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. The Registrars of Voters also will hold a limited voter registration session for those whose qualification as to age, citizenship or residence was attained after Oct. 29. This session will be on Monday, Nov. 4, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Let the Candidates Debate
The Round Hill, the Northeast Greenwich and Northwest Greenwich associations will host a candidates debate at the Round Hill Community Center at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28. The debate will be for candidates for First Selectman and Board of Education.

Incumbent Republican Selectman Dave Theis will host be hosting a fund-raiser at Redman's Hall, 17 E. Elm St., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. Tickets are $35; kids are free. To RSVP, contact Anne Drake at aannetd@aol.com or 203-629-2615.

Board of Ed Debate

The six Board of Education candidates are scheduled to debate Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Eastern Middle School.

The debate is being hosted by three neighborhood associations: Riverside, Old Greenwich, and Cos Cob Associations.  All Greenwich voters are invited to attend.  The debate will start at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Three Republicans and three Democrats are vying for four openings on the board. The top two Republican and top two Democratic candidates will win four-year terms on the board.

Old Greenwich Farmers Market

There's still time to grab fresh veggies and other produce and locally produced foodstuffs and plants at the Old Greenwich Farmers Market, held on Wednesday, at the Presbyterian Church of Old Greenwich.

Earth Shred Event

Get a leg up on fall cleaning by getting rid of old documents. There will be an on-site shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 in the Island Beach Parking Lot, organized by Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board and Greenwich Green & Clean. Cost: free is you donate a can of tuna or fruit for the Thanksgiving Food Drive, or $1 per box. There's an eight-box limit.

Letter Submission Deadline

Greenwich Patch will publish election-related letters to the editor through Oct. 31.  To be considered for publication, letters must be submitted by 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.
