A Week to Give...A Blood Drive, Shopping Benefit for Abilis, An Enchanted Forest

Here's what's happening in and around Greenwich this week.

The rain has moved out and it'll feel like spring with temperatures reaching about 60 later today. Enjoy it now as temperatures will fall into the 40s for the rest of the week.

Here's the National Weather Service forecast:

  • Today: Showers this morning...then sunny this afternoon. Breezy with highs in the mid 60s. Temperature falling into the upper 50s this afternoon. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent. 
  • Tonight: Mostly clear. Much cooler with lows in the mid 30s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. 
  • Tuesday: Sunny and breezy. Cooler with highs in the upper 40s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. 
  • Tuesday Night: Clear. Lows in the upper 20s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. 
  • Wednesday: Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming east in the afternoon. 
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s. 
  • Thursday: Partly sunny. Highs around 50. 
  • Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s. 
  • Friday: Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 50s. 
  • Friday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. 
  • Saturday: Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow showers in the morning...then a chance of rain showers in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 40s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent. 
  • Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow showers in the evening...then a chance of snow showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 30s. Chance of precipitation 30 percent. 
Blood Drive Monday
The Greenwich Chapter of the Red Cross and Temple Sholom will be hosting a blood drive at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at the temple, 300 E. Putnam Ave.

Greenwich Pen Women Host Concert
Music by women composers is on the program when two acclaimed classical musicians, pianist Margaret Mills and organist Claudia Dumschat perform on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. 

Grocery Shop for a Cause
Fairway Market in Stamford (699 Canal St.) will hold a shopping night to benefit Abilis of Greenwich on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 9 p.m. This is the chosen charity of the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, the winners of this past summer's Fairway Firefighters Food Face-Off. 

Adolescents and Self Harm
Clinical psychologist and Silver Hill Hospital's Adolescent Consultant, Dr. Barbara Greenberg, will challenge your assumptions on parenting tweens and teens in a free information session about what encompasses self-harm, at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21 at The Spire School, hosted by the Greenwich Education Group.

The Enchanted Forest
Kick off the holiday season on Friday, Nov. 22 with a "Sneak Peek" at all the trees, gingerbread houses and boutique from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. The Junior League of Greenwich event includes complimentary admission, boutique shopping, cash bar, and open bidding and "Buy it Now" options on select trees and gingerbread houses.
