Some Weekend Fun In and Around Greenwich

Sometimes we want to relax on the weekends and sometimes we want to go out and have fun. Here are a few suggestions of local places and things to do over the weekend.

Greenwich Symphony Orchestra Concerts
The Greenwich Symphony Orchestra presents concerts featuring principal flutist Susan Rotholz and harpist Victoria Drake on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Greenwich High School auditorium. The program will include works by Schumann, Mozart, Gilbert and Ginastera. Pre-Concert Lectures with Associate Conductor Tara Simoncic Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. To order by phone, call 203-869-2664. Tickets are also available at the door.

Latin and Ballroom Dancing
The Arthur Murray Greenwich studio, 6 Lewis St., will be hosting an open ballroom and Latin dance party at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. Admission is $10.

Temple Sholom Annual Celebration and Auction
Join us for a fabulous evening — at 7 p.m., Sat., Jan. 25 — honoring Cantor Asa and Sarah Fradkin, and Nicki Markley.  Entertainment by mentalist Ken Salaz, music by BealyDan, and elegant food from Ridgefield Regency Caterers. For more information contact Alice Schoen, alice.schoen@templesholom.com, 203-542-7165.

Greenwich Yacht Club Open House
Come in from the cold Sunday for Greenwich Yacht Club's Open House starting at 1 p.m. "[E]njoy a roaring fire, some hot coffee or cocoa, and refreshments while checking out the beautiful post-Sandy renovations on the simple yet elegant Old Greenwich Yacht Club 'Clubhouse.' We are very proud of our beach shack style town-sponsored yacht club."


Westchester Toy & Train Show 
Electric toy Train & Toy Show of more than 300 dealers of varied gauge electric trains and accessories, parts, books for Lionel, American Flier, Marklin, Tyco, etc., will be held Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY.


An Intro to Transcendental Meditation
A talk on the Transcendental Meditation Program will give you an overview of what it is, how it works, what you learn, how it differs from other techniques and it's origin. It starts at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Rd., Old Greenwich.
