The Jester Jim Show; Off-Beat Players; Dixieland Jazz


Who says there isn't anything to do? There's plenty happening around Greenwich this weekend.

With nothing more than a trunk full of props and his orange T-shirt, Jester Jim takes the stage and starts his show of comedy, juggling and beatboxing for a Greenwich Library children's summer program in the Cole Auditorium at 11 a.m. Sat., Aug. 10. Call 203-622-7940 for more information.

The Off-Beat Players will bring their spin on Broadway to the boards each night—tonight through Saturday, Aug. 10, with their summer production "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. at the Arch Street Teen Center with tickets available at the door.

There's Jazz on the Sound on Sunday, Aug. 11. A Dixieland Jazz band which will play on the 4 p.m. Island Beach ferry, continue playing on Island Beach, and play again on the return trip 5:30 p.m. ferry. You will need a town park pass or day pass (which needs to be purchased in advance at Town Hall or either the Western or Eastern Greenwich Civic centers) and must purchase a ferry ticket at the town dock.

There is a massive art exhibit, "Coney Night Maze," at the Neuberger Museum of Art at SUNY Purchase, just up King Street. Inspired by the landmark roller coaster on Coney Island, "The Cyclone," with its hairpin turns and stomach lifting plummets is a sculptural installation, "Coney Night Maze" is an exhibition that runs through Sept. 15.

And if you're already planning out your Monday night out for the family — There's the Family Movie Night outdoors at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center on Monday, Aug. 12. The entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. with singer/storyteller Keith Munslow and a screening of "Despicable Me" at 7:45. If it rains the movie, and children’s performance will be inside the building in the gym.
