It's Going To Be A Jazzy, 'Chili' and a Shredding Weekend in Greenwich


 “Like Father, Like Daughter”
Father's Forum will host a session with experts about a father’s relationship with his daughter. Come find out how a father's behavior impacts his daughter’s self-esteem.  We will discuss ways to develop their confidence, competence and connectedness. The forum will be held at 8 a.m. Nov. 2 at the Greenwich YMCA. 

Shred Your Sensitive Documents

Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board and Greenwich Green & Clean will celebrate America Recycles Day with on-site shredding for sensitive documents on Saturday at the Island Beach Parking Lot on Arch Street. Destroy papers containing personal information - tax, medical, Social Security, financial. Shreds will be properly recycled. Cost:  1 can of Tuna or 1 can of Fruit per box, or $1 per box. Food will go to a local Thanksgiving food collection.

Grammy Award-winning Afro-Latin jazz pianist, Arturo O’Farrill, along with his world class quintet, will headline this year’s Greenwich High School Band Benefit Concert on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Greenwich High School auditorium, at 7:30 p.m.

Does the thought of a job interview make you nervous? You're not alone. Interviewing makes many people uneasy. Greenwich Library’s Peterson Business Series will present a free Interviewing Seminar on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. in the Library Meeting Room.

This 2-hour workshop will be presented by job search consultant Ellen Mehling, a Career Development Consultant at Metropolitan New York Library Council.

Second Congregational Church invites the public to its 12th annual Broadway Chili Night on Sunday, Nov. 3, at the church, at 139 E. Putnam Ave. The event will celebrate the magic of Broadway with musical entertainment and a home-cooked meal. It all starts at 6 p.m.

Oysters, Pearls of Long Island Sound
Explore the science and natural history of oysters, particularly the Long Island Sound’s native Eastern oyster with the new exhibit Oysters, Pearls of Long Island Sound that opens on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Find out which oysters produce the best pearls and discover the rich history of oyster fishing in the Long Island Sound and recent efforts to restore oyster beds.

The exhibition will feature hands-on interactive displays, videos, and historical objects that appeal to all ages.
