Stamford native Dan Dauplaise graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Government. The son of a teacher, Dan was accepted into the New City Teaching Fellows program and taught special education at the middle school level. He opted to live in Stamford during his fellowship and commute into Manhattan so he could continue serving the North Stamford community as a volunteer firefighter. Fluent in Spanish, he worked with a summer program to take talented high school students on cultural immersion trips to Spain.

Previously active as a volunteer with the Obama campaign, Dan moved to Washington DC and returned to politics, working as a staff assistant to Arizona Congressman Ed Pastor. While there he supported the Congressman's efforts on the Appropriations Committee and saw the inner workings of the passage of the Health Care Act in 2009. Dan returned to Connecticut to work as 4th District Field Organizer for Governor Malloy's gubernatorial campaign. Shortly after the campaign ended, he began working as an education consultant in Greenwich. However, inspired by his political experience, Dan decided to step out from behind the scenes and work more directly for the people of Connecticut. He accepted the Democratic nomination for the 36th State Senate seat on May 21st, and is honored by the opportunity to work for the people he cares so much about. Dan is currently the Executive Vice President of the Fairfield County Young Democrats and a member of the Stamford Democratic City Committee.
