Farricker Mulling Run for State House

Democratic Town Committee Chair Frank Farricker dashes rumors he won't run for state house seat held by retiring Rep. Lile Gibbons.

Chairman of the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee Frank Farricker said he's "not 100 percent committed" but he hasn't ruled out a run for the Connecticut Legislature.

Farricker said he "has to weigh what I'm doing with the lottery, my job, my family" before deciding whether he will run for the 150th District seat held by Republican Lile Gibbons. Gibbons, a 6-term legislator, represents the district that encompasses the town's shoreline fron Byram to Old Grenwich, north to about Route 1, announced last week she would not seek reelection.

Farricker said, "I think I can get things done for Greenwich," citing his being "pragmatic" and possessing knowledge and experience of Greenwich and state government. Farricker was appointed last year as head of the Connecticut Lottery Commission by Gov. Dannel Malloy.

While he said he won't make a final decision until mid-April, should Farricker choose to run, he most likely will face Republican Stephen Walko, the former Board of Estimate and Taxation member who  stepped down Jan. 1 after serving 11 years including the last 4 as BET chairman. Walko announced his bid Feb. 23—the day after Gibbons said she would retire.

Farricker declined to identify other potential candidates for the 150th district as welll as those who may challenge the Republican incumbent legislators Livvy Floren and Fred Camillo, and state Sen. L. Scott Frantz.

"I'm 99 percent sure we'll have a full slate," said Farricker who owns EBT Realy in Old Greenwich. "There's a lineup of people who want to run, but I'm leaving it up to them" to announce.
