Greenwich Arrests for Carrying Gun in a Car; Shoplifting

Both suspects are from upstate CT.

A 68-year-old woman from upstate Lakeville was issued a misdemeanor summons on a sixth-degree larceny charge by in connection with a shoplifting incident at Whole Foods.

Police were called to the 90 E. Putnam Ave. food market shortly after 2:30 p.m., March 7. Judith N. Singelis, who gave an address of 22 Millerton Rd., Lakeville, is accused of leaving the store with a reusable canvas Whole Foods tote bag filled with grocery items, according to a police report. "When store management confronted her in the parking lot, Singelis was unable to produce a slaes receipt for the tote, which had the price tag still attached, or the items," according to the report.

She was released on a promise to appear March 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A motorist stopped by police because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt was arrested on a charge he was carrying a gun without a permit and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

According to Greenwich Police, Vincent J. Dorso, 42, who gave an address of 21 Judson St., Thomaston, was stopped by police on Hamilton Avenue, near Prospect Street, about noon March 7. While talking with police, Dorso "indicated that he was carrying a .380 handgun within the vehicle and could produce a valid permit.

He also was ticketed for failure to wear a seatbelt. Dorso was released after posting $250 bond and scheduled to appear March 16 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
