Letter: 'Hubris' in Cos Cob 'Amazes' Him

By Rick Novakowski

The hubris displayed by Lou and Randy Caravella amazes me. The former Tax Collector and his son, a local businessman have apparently signed a deal that would put a huge, non-residential dwelling in the middle of their Cos Cob neighborhood. This, even after being turned down by Planning and Zoning for a much smaller project just a couple of years ago.

Neighbors are up in arms but do the Caravellas hear them? Apparently not.  Their lack of a sense of reality is laughable. In an interview with a weekly local paper not long ago, Lou who calls himself the "Mayor of Cos Cob," (I'd like to take a vote on that now!), is quoted as saying,"Being a part of the Cos Cob community is wht my life is about...serving the people!" As for Randy Caravella, he is president of something he calls the Cos Cob Association, who's homepage lists its mission as "Bringing People Together!" and "Promoting the interests of residents and homeowners." He doesn't stop there. The group is planning what they call a "Winters' Eve Festival" on Saturday, December first, with Randy lighting a tree behind the Cos Cob Firehouse!

In keeping with the holiday theme I have a suggestion. Randy can dress up as banker Henry Potter from "It's a Wonderful Life" and Lou can wear a grinch outfit. It may not be the image they'd like to sell you, but it would be more realistic!
