Letter: Frantz 'Believes That Every One Should Have The Opportunity To Succeed'

It is time for the Scott Frantz bashing being done by the Greenwich Time to end. Is Scott Frantz ready for prime time? Yes … and then some. 

First of all, I know the comments Scott made that keep getting referenced were purely economic and fiscally based. Scott is very consistent. He believes that fiscal responsibility is the foundation of any successful society. He believes that every one should have the opportunity to succeed but that success is not guaranteed. Scott is a very good businessman and an even better person. He has been given some, but he has earned so much more and given back even more than that.

Scott’s laser-like focus on the economy in Connecticut is understandable. It is a mess; a total, complete and utter failure by a veto-proof Democrat legislature.  Connecticut’s economy and business growth is abysmal. In fact, we rank below every single other state in the nation. I can understand why the Democrats don’t want to talk about that.

So, they take Scott’s comments about the fiscal state of our state and try to make them about social issues. Every comment from Scott that Bob Horton used in his article was not even remotely about social issues of any kind. It was all about fiscal issues and fiscal responsibility. In the words of James Carvell, “it’s the economy, stupid.”

I can understand why Democrats are screaming to the high heavens about all this – they are in the middle of an election. But the paper getting manipulated into thinking this is anything but an economic discussion shows they don’t know Scott, they don’t understand the economic stakes in Connecticut and they have no idea just how smart Scott Frantz really is.

Scott didn’t walk through the doors of his company yesterday. First he graduated from Princeton, then he graduated Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, then he worked in the industry getting valuable experience before starting his own company. He worked very hard and he has earned his success. 

Scott is not one to self-aggrandize, but he is really, really good on fiscal issues.  He is an expert in the intricate details of financing a state government that I cannot even begin to understand. He has more energy and a harder work ethic than anyone I have ever met. He is as comfortable at a fundraiser for one of the many charities he supports as he is fixing an engine, taking out the garbage or wiping down the counters and washing the dishes after a neighborhood coffee is over. He just jumps in and helps with whatever is in front of him.

Scott may not want "prime time" but you can bet he is more than ready.  Unfortunately, the Greenwich Time is not.
