Letter: Walko Has 'Sound Fiscal Sense'

Why Steve Walko? Easy! The Economy! The greatest challenge facing our State, our Nation, and even globally is the Economy!  

We need leaders who understand the basic rule of budgeting: I can't spend more than I have.

We need leaders who understand the basic rule of developing job opportunities: Let small businesses and entrepreneurs have success so they can create more jobs.

We need leaders who have experience with businesses, labor leaders and government entities, who realize that only when we all work in concert will we have success.

We need leaders with the experience, the talent, the courage and the intelligence of Steve Walko — a businessman who has led our community's BET for years, keeping services high and the tax base low. Our families have benefited from his sound fiscal sense, our children have benefited from his strong advocacy of our public schools, and our elderly have benefited from his steadfast support for the Nathaniel Witherell. We need Steve Walko's presence in Hartford, to try and bring his rational and sound fiscal thinking to correct the morass which has led us to the brink of insolvency.
