Motor Vehicle Stop = Arrest; Mailboxes Smashed

Greenwich Police arrested a town resident on multiple motor vehicle charges following a motor vehicle stop Saturday.

According to a police report, police stopped the car that was uninsured and unregistered shortly before 10 p.m. June 2 on Davis Avenue near Orchard Place. Police found that the driver also had a suspended license because of a previous driving while intoxicated arrest, according to the report.

John J. Lagon, 53, who gave an address of 27 Havemeyer Pl., Greenwich, was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of plates, operating without insurance, operating with a suspended license, failure to obey a traffic control signal, operating without a liecese and second-degree failure to appear in court. He was released after posting a total of $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear June 11 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A narcotics investigation by Greenwich Police has led to the arrest of a Port Chester, NY man on charges he had a quantity of suspected cocaine in his possession.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Jorge L. Duche, 22, who gave an address of 168 Poningo St., Port Chester, was charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell, in connection with a June 1 incident on South Water Street just before 2 a.m.

Duche's bond was set at $1,000 and he was scheduled to appear June 15 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich Police are investigating reports that three mailboxes on Osceola Drive were smashed by an unknown object.

Residents reported the damage shortly before 10:40 p.m. June 2. Further details were not available.
