Two Bronx NY Men Charged with Passing Fake $100 Bills

Greenwich Police said an investigation revealed that the pair had passed fake $100 bills at Greenwich Pharmacy and at CVS Pharmacy stores on the Post Road and Riverside Common Shopping Center.

Two Bronx NY men were arrested Monday, Aug. 21, after they allegedly passed counterfeit $100 bills at three Greenwich pharmacies.

Police said they were notified by store management at Greenwich Pharmacy on Greenwich Avenue that someone had passed a counterfeit $100 bill there. Based on information provided they were on the lookout for a Hispanic male suspect wearing a NY Yankees baseball cap, a white T-shirt with a large blue silk-screened face, khaki shorts and white sneakers.

At about 1:35 p.m. officers on patrol saw a male suspect matching the description exiting the CVS Pharmacy in the Riverside Common Shopping Center. Police said the suspect, later identified as Emmanuel Jose Rodriguez, 18, of Bronx, NY, was detained as he was about to enter a vehicle driven by Omar N. Aviles, 21, also of Bronx, NY.

Police said an investigation revealed that the pair had passed fake $100 bills at Greenwich Pharmacy and at CVS Pharmacy stores on the Post Road and Riverside Common Shopping Center.

Police said a search of the vehicle revealed a facsimile weapon.

Rodriguez and Aviles were each charged with three counts of first degree forgery, sixth degree larceny and conspiracy. Aviles was additionally charged with one count of a weapon in a motor vehicle.

Each posted a $5,000 bond and is due in court at a later date.
