Here's what's happening in Greenwich today, Tuesday, Aug. 20, the

Good morning Greenwich!

Summer's still going strong and it's going to be a sunny day ... according to the National Weather Service. Here's the forecast for today:

  • Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 85. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning.
  • Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
And take advantage of the tides: low tides are at 5:15 a.m. and at 5:34 p.m. with high tide this morning at 11:13 and again at 11:36 p.m. Sunrise (which is when the beaches open) is at 6:08 a.m. with sunset at 7:46 p.m. (which is when Greenwich beaches close).

Before you head out today, check out the details on today's scheduled road closure for East Putnam Avenue in Old Greenwich.

Join Miss Myriam for her popular Spanish Storytime session for pre-schoolers at the Cos Cob Library at 10 a.m. today. Drop in and learn some Spanish words while Miss Myriam presents stories, songs, movement, and even some drawing projects.

Also at the Cos Cob Library, the Sit'n Stitch Knitting/Crocheting Group meets at 1 p.m. Knitters of all levels of experience work on individual projects or projects for the community. Experienced knitters are always available to help beginners.

If you haven't dropped in to The Bruce Museum...take some time to do so. There are terrific art exhibitions including Darien resident Robert Carley's photo collection 'Flags Across America,' The Art of Kathleen Gilje' and 'Eggs-hibition: Unscrambling Their History.' Of course, there's the nifty gift shop as well.
