Street Art Hits Greeniwch Avenue

Samuel Owen Gallery is pleased to announce an exciting collaboration taking place along Greenwich Avenue that will include Street Artist Michael De Feo, Justin Shaw of JCS Construction Group, Inc., The Boys & Girls Club, and celebrity chef Graham Elliot. De Feo will bring his famous ‘Flower’ image to Greenwich Avenue, which will be prominently displayed while building continues on Graham Elliot’s new restaurant Primary Food & Drink. Justin Shaw, whose company is responsible for the construction, graciously donated the space for the temporary use as a public mural, which will be the largest De Feo has ever created.

Best known in the street art movement for his ubiquitous ‘Flower,’ De Feo has been creating works on the streets of New York and international cities for over twenty years. As a Street Artist, De Feo has always been committed to sharing his art with the public, especially a young audience. A former art teacher at Westhill High School in Stamford, De Feo has also published a children’s book titled Alphabet City: Out on the Streets, using his street art to illustrate each letter of the alphabet. For this reason, he asked the Boys & Girls Club if he could include them in this unique artistic endeavor, by joining the children for a special after-school program, where they can see how screen prints are made, and learn how they too can make a difference in their community.
