The Weather's Warmer Just in Time for Easter! Rain Late Easter Sunday!

Weather for the Easter weekend.

Good Morning,

Some widely separated showers did occur yesterday afternoon across the Tri-State Area, with most temperatures managing to peak in the lower and middle 50s... Today, it would be a good idea to have the umbrella handy, because as a weak front presses down from the north this afternoon and early tonight, there could be a shower in a couple of spots before the day is through, as well as early this evening... But, despite this shower potential, most of the time will be rain-free today, and most temperatures will return to the lower and middle 50s...

As far as the thinking is concerned for the upcoming Easter holiday weekend, there are no changes at this time... Tomorrow should be a dry day from start to finish, and most afternoon temperatures will be in the mid and upper 50s... Then, while the Easter holiday on Sunday should get off to a bright start, there will be a tendency for clouds to increase fairly rapidly... That should be followed by some late-day and nighttime rain, which will leave behind 0.25 - 0.50" in most rain gauges... Because the clouds should be fairly widespread by early Sunday afternoon, temperatures will either be close to, or 2-4 degrees lower than tomorrow's...

So, it is important that we make a couple of things clear... There will be TWO relatively fast-moving fronts that will be moving across the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states: One will arrive late on Sunday, and the other one late on Monday... So, it is very conceivable (as we mentioned the past day or two) that all of the rain we get later Sunday/Sunday night will be long gone by Monday morning...

Then, the focus of our attention will be quickly turning to the next cold front... With some sun returning on Monday, temperatures during the day should have no trouble returning to the mid or upper 50s, but clouds will be increasing in the afternoon...

Of course, Monday is Opening Day not only in the Bronx, but in Flushing as well, and both games will be starting shortly after 1 p.m. — the latest model guidance is suggesting that the showers associated with the next front will occur after 2 or 3 p.m. and before 9 p.m. on Monday... Therefore, we're going to be 'cautiously optimistic' about the weather staying dry for the duration of both games... But, the odds do seem to favor that there will be some late-day or early nighttime rainfall around here...

Tuesday will be noticeably chillier, with most temperatures no higher than the 40s — but also some sunshine... The chilly air mass will probably become modified during the second half of next week...

Have a great holiday!
