Metro-North Restores All Service; Expect Delays [Updated]
The MTA is cross-honoring Metro-North tickets for commuters who need to use subways in New York City.
Metro-North Railroad just announced that "All service has been restored on all lines."
A spokesman said, crews debris from the two buildings that exploded from a gas leak near an elevated section of the tracks in Harlem has been cleared.
"We checked the integrity of elevated structure, the tracks and the third rail and got a green light from inspection crews, the railroad and the FDNY," the spokesman said in an interview with WCBS 880. He added that commuters should "expect some delays as trains operate at reduced speeds through the area where a building exploded and some crowded conditions."

For this evening, Metro-North is restoring some New Haven and Harlem Line service from Grand Central Terminal after an explosion and building collapse next to the Park Avenue viaduct.
Customers who use the Hudson Line should take the B, D or 4 subway lines to 161 St and walk to Metro-North's Yankees - East 153rd Street station. Workers from the subway and Metro-North will assist customers to walk west from the B, D and 4 subway station at 161 St. to the Metro-North?s Yankees - East 153rd Street station for service to points north.
Train service is limited by the number of tracks that have been cleared of debris, tested for integrity and approved for operations by Metro-North and the New York Fire Department (FDNY). Train speeds may also be reduced to protect nearby railroad workers and to limit vibrations at the explosion site.
Of the four tracks on the Park Avenue viaduct, the two farthest from the explosion site have been restored to service. As more tracks are restored, the level of train service will increase.
New Haven Line and Harlem Line customers should expect crowding and delays due to track limitations, with some local and express trains combined. The track configuration does not allow Hudson Line service to operate to Grand Central until more tracks are restored to service. Customers are urged to delay travel until later if possible.

Metro-North's Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines will cross-honor tickets from the other Metro-North lines.

Metro-North has announced alternative travel plans and routes for Wednesday evening as all service in and out of Grand Central Terminal remains suspended because of this morning's explosion that leveled two buildings and killed at least two.
Metro-North customers traveling to New York City Wednesday will be taken to stations in the Bronx where they can transfer to the New York City Subway for travel to Manhattan. NYC Transit will cross honor Metro-North tickets at those nearby Bronx subway stations. Customers wishing to travel north today out of Grand Central Terminal should take the subway to specific points in the Bronx.
New Haven Line: For Eastbound service, take the No. 5 Subway to the 180th Street Station and transfer to the No. 2 Subway for service to 233rd Street to access the Woodlawn Station. Westbound train service will operate to Woodlawn Station where customers can take the No. 2 Subway.
Hudson Line service is suspended between Grand Central Terminal & Yankees E. 153rd St. Station. For northbound service, take the No. 4 Subway to 161st St. Station for access to Yankees E. 153rd Street Station. For southbound service, take the train to Yankees E. 153rd Street Station and transfer to the No. 4 Subway.
Harlem Line service is suspended between Grand Central & Woodlawn Station. For northbound service, take the No. 5 Subway to the 180th St. Station & transfer to the No. 2 Subway to 233rd Street Station for our Woodlawn Station. For southbound service, take the train to Wakefield Station & transfer to the No. 2 Subway. Limited local train service will be provided between Wakefield & Fordham Stations.
