Greenwich Pets in for a Treat at Bliss Ice Cream

It's nice when the family or a group of friends all get together and go out for ice cream on a hot summer day, but what about poor Fido?

Ed Fonseca, of Cos Cob's Bliss Ice Cream at 551 East Putnam Avenue is looking out for your favorite four-legged friends with his Doggie Bliss line of treats.

"I wanted to cater to the animals. They're family too," Fonseca said. "Lot's of people will get a cup of ice cream for the dog because they feel guilty. This is something special for them."

At Bliss, save for the dots-style, all the ice cream, gelato, soft-serve and sorbet is made on site, and Doggie Bliss treats are no exception.

Prepared flavors include Biscuits & Cream, dog biscuits crushed into low-fat ice cream, and Nana Nutter Smoothie, which is bananas and natural peanut butter.

Starting Wednesday, May 15, Bliss will host Tail Wagging Wednesdays, where 20-percent of all sales go to benefitting the Paws and Adopt-a-Dog organizations on alternating weeks.

Bliss is open Tuesday through Sunday, 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
