After School Grows by Leaps and Bounds at the YMCA of Greenwich

Students from Julian Curtiss, North Street, Glenville, Hamilton Avenue and New Lebanon will have another affordable, quality afterschool program through 6pm, Monday-Friday.  The YMCA afterschool program offers homework help from qualified teachers, fun activities and free weekly swim lessons.  It’s the perfect way to end the day!

The YMCA of Greenwich has provided an after school program for decades.  This year, the service area is going from one school to five!  Hamilton Avenue students will continue to be walked across the street to the 2 St. Roch Avenue location.  The YMCA bus, driven by professional bus drivers, will pick up at Julian Curtiss, North Street and Glenville, and bring the students back to St. Roch.  For New Lebanon students, the YMCA is opening a brand new program, in the school, thanks to the support of principal, Barbara Riccio.

Two new Site Directors have been hired, bringing unparalleled experience and education to the program.  They will accompany returning afterschool program teachers, Matt Kyek and Cindi Borchers.

The monthly tuition for this program is $310, which includes all transportation, swimming, half-days, etc.  And, thanks to United Way, Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association (an organization of professional police officers) and countless donors to the YMCA, financial assistance is available to all who qualify.  In addition, the State’s Care4Kids program can provide additional dollars.  The financial assistance award may also be used toward an individual or family YMCA membership, which is required for program participation.

On many school vacation days, the YMCA of Greenwich provides full-day vacation camps at the 50 East Putnam Avenue location.  This is available to all children, whether in the after school program or not.  The Y will also have camps for children not in the program, on early release days.  Fees range from $25-$65.

The After School Program is open September through June and serves students in grades K-5, plus summer camps.  For information regarding enrollment, please contact David Cohen at 203.869.3381 or dcohen@gwymca.org.  For more information, visit www.greenwichymca.org
