How do I handle my first Thanksgiving alone with my children (and no husband/father)?

The first holiday is the hardest for you and the kids. And figuring out how to make the holiday meaningful and fun is even harder . Do you want to start a new  way to celebrate the holiday specific to your new family structure? Is there a dish traditional to your family that your former husband always hated? Did your family make a prayer, sing a song or play a game that your husband didn’t want included.? Start a new tradition!

My wife has the kids. What do I do?

Holiday time without the kids can be very difficult, especially if you have no extended family in the area. The best solution is to Make a Plan.  Whether you go away for the weekend, volunteer in a soup kitchen, attach yourself to another family’s celebration, or plan dinner and a movie with others in the same boat, be proactive in filling the time.
