Greenwich's Dan Macaulay is Finalist in John Lennon Song Writing Contest

Macaulay made it to the Finalist round in the Gospel/Inspirational category for his song "In Awe," from his latest release, "From You, For You," according to the JLSC website.

Contemporary Christian music recording artist and resident Dan Macaulay has reportedly been named a Finalist (Session II) in the 2011 John Lennon Song Writing Contest.

Macaulay made it to the Finalist round in the Gospel/Inspirational category for his song “In Awe,” from his latest release, “From You, For You,” according to the JLSC website.

Launched in 1997, the John Lennon Songwriting Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters who submit entries in any one of 12 categories. The contest is open year-round and features two Sessions with 72 Finalists, 24 Grand Prize Winners, 12 Lennon Award Winners and 1 "Song of the Year."

According to the website, Bob Weir, Jesse Harris, The Black Eyed Peas, The Bacon Brothers, Ken Komisar and The Veronicas have judged past contest entries. Prizes include recording studio gear, depending on level of achievement, with the “Song of the Year” winner receiving $20,000 and a “prize pack” of equipment.

Hailing from Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Macaulay is the worship pastor at . His 2004 debut album, “Captured Again,” won two 2007 Shai Awards (formerly Vibe Awards): Worship Album of the Year and Male Soloist of the Year.
