Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Effect Through 1:30 PM
The storm is capable of producing quarter size hail, the National Weather Service reports.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County, in effect through 1:30 p.m.
"At 1245 pm EDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph," the service warned.
"This storm was located near Ridgefield and moving northeast at 30 mph," it added.
