Traffic Advisory Issued for Tuesday Morning



Drivers should avoid Route 1, Lake Avenue and Old Mill Road Tuesday morning.

Greenwich Police and Connecticut Light & Power have issued travel advisory that drivers should expect delays between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday because a 30-ton transformer will be delivered to the utility’s substation in north Greenwich.

Circuits, conduits and lines in the area were damaged earlier this month when a series of thunderstorms caused lightning strikes, knocking out power in the Cos Cob, Byram, Glenville, Pemberwick sections of Greenwich, as well as the King Street corridor.

The transformer installation is part of the CL&P’s nine-project effort to upgrade the town’s aging power infrastructure and increasing power demand, which will continue for several years.
