Safety Town: Children's Safety and Preparedness Program

Safety Town is a comprehensive safety education program offered every summer that teaches awareness and accident prevention skills to Greenwich children entering kindergarten in the fall.

Safety Town is a comprehensive fun and interactive  safety education program offered every summer that teaches awareness and accident prevention skills to Greenwich children entering kindergarten in the fall.

The indoor classroom setting of Safety Town is scaled down to a ‘kid-size’ layout to help the kids have a feel for real life situations. The American Red Cross and a wide range of volunteer instructors run the Safety Town program. Teachers, police officers, firefighters, EMS and other working professionals provide guidance for the students, offering real life experience and knowledge for the children.

Students of Safety Town will be fitted with their own bike safety helmet that they will use through out the week, and then take home to keep. The children will be using their bike safety helmet while riding pedal cars through the kid-sized Safety Town complete with buildings, crosswalks, sidewalks, and street markings. They will also have the opportunity to tour an ambulance, fire truck and school bus.
