Letter: Ed Board Candidate Erickson Has Experience in Schools, Government

To the Editor,

I am 19 years old and I plan on voting in the upcoming election on November 5th by absentee ballot. My parents have brought me up to honor the sacrifice of those who have fought for the rights and privileges of living in a free society. This year I will be exercising those rights and privileges to cast one of my four votes for the Board of Education for my mom, Laura Erickson.

My sister, father, and I (my brother was out of town) attended the DTC convention this summer to support my mom. I thought she knocked the cover off the ball.  She didn't get the nomination.  However, my parents are always telling us “don’t quit” so I wasn't at all surprised when she followed through and got herself on the ballot.

For as long as I can remember, my mother has been involved with the schools, town government and the Greenwich Alliance for Education.  I think my mom would bring a lot to the Board. Now that I am in college, I have a different perspective. I appreciate all that my teachers, mentors, and school administrators did to prepare me for life beyond high school. Thank you Greenwich public schools.

I hope I've convinced you, but if you need more information go to her website: www.ericksonforeducation.com
