Letter: Sherr 'A Great Republican Candidate' for Board of Ed

There is a struggle within the Republican party and it’s not about the much maligned Tea Party; it’s about conservatism vs. the RINO’s, or what I call the democrat lite.

Greenwich is a microcosm of what is happening state wide and nationally.

People have complained about the constant turning over of school Superintendents.  If you want to blame someone, blame the Democrats because most of the time there have been only two legitimate Republicans on the BOE the rest are Democrats and faux Republicans.

I was on the RTC, I know what I’m talking about, I tried many times under two different chairman to come up with a platform that would distinguish the Republicans from the Democrats but there was one excuse after another.  They liked the idea of a so-called “big tent”; welcoming people who are not loyal to any particular credo except expediency and the status quo. Sadly because of these stealth Democrats, the party has come to lose its integrity.

A person was brought before our committee to be our candidate for the BOE, who had voted for Al Gore, (the democrat) for president. We were told that if she didn’t come in as a republican she’d come in as a democrat. She was barely accepted by the committee, but the chairman who was vehemently against her, suggested we give her a unanimous endorsement. This person went on to become the chair of the BOE.

Another time we had a person wanting to be a republican candidate for the BOE who wasn’t even vetted. For the purpose of disclosure she said that her husband, who was a school mate of Himes (the democrat) donated money to his campaign.  When we were about to vote for this person, a further revelation was made, that she was not even a republican. This was not a problem, the registrar of voters who was in attendance swore her in on the spot.

When two members of the republican party wanted to change the voting process regarding the BOE to a popular vote rather than the current process of virtual appointments, whereas people voted but made little difference as to the outcome.  A democrat member of the BOE addressing our district RTM said if the change were to be made; there would be more Democrats becoming Republicans. So there you go, Democrats shamelessly infiltrating the republican party.

With all this said, I want to endorse and recommend someone who I know has been and will continue to be a great REPUBLICAN candidate; someone who will not sellout, someone who is not “politically correct” someone who does not go along just to get along, someone who without a doubt is not an Obama supporter, unlike some other Republicans. Please consider voting for Peter Sherr for the Board Of Education.
