Letter: Sherr Is 'Voice of Reason, Independence' on Board of Ed

To the Editor,

I urge Greenwich voters to re-elect Peter Sherr to the Board of Education. Considering the ongoing changes in administration, goals and policies of our schools, Greenwich needs Peter Sherr to continue to serve. During his past two terms, he has been a voice of reason and independence.

Although I am District Leader of RTM District 7, this letter is personal. I will note, however, that the twenty members of my district share my concern that the schools need strong leadership and will benefit from a member of the BOE who advocates neighborhood schools that will provide all the children of Greenwich with the education needed for this 21st century.

Within our district are families who send children to North Street, Glenville Julian Curtis, Central Middle, Western Middle and of course Greenwich High School. Schools are a primary concern for the residents of District 7 and for all the residents of Greenwich.

Peter served three terms on the RTM and has been a member of the Board of the Riverside Association and the North Mianus PTA. As the father of three children who attend Greenwich schools, he has a critical interest in working to give Greenwich the best possible schools.

Peter’s career at a major technology firm has given him the background and expertise to effectively monitor the implementation of the digital learning program that is coming to our schools.

As you go to the voting booth, please put aside partisan politics and vote for an experienced and dedicated candidate who will work to bring our schools back to the excellence of past years.

Valerie Stauffer
Chair, District 7
