Happy Birthday to Baseball Royalty

I just hope God has a place for him where he can run again. Where he can play practical jokes on his teammates and smile that boyish smile, 'cause God knows, no one's perfect. And God knows there's something special about heroes.

Mickey Mantle would have turned 80 on October 20th, 2011. Whitey Ford turns 83 today. These two best friends led the New York Yankees to baseball dominance in the 1950s and 60s. However, their legends live on today, stronger than ever in the minds of a public that yearns for the heroes of yesteryear.

Bob Costas, in his eulogy for The Mick in 1995, captured what millions thought, felt, and believed, but could not say, at least not in a public setting. 

God bless The Mick and the Chairman of the Board, and may their legends live on forever.
